Be Better

Squirries Street, Bethnal Green, London, 2005
Research project, hand produced pamphlets, resolution exchange and t-shirt raffle.

The New Year always elicits feelings of renewal, revival and self betterment. For this purpose, we trolled the internet looking for common How To instructions from How to Greet the Queen to How to Become an Artist, skills that we thought might be useful for an eloquent life. We created 300 pamphlets and left them for the audience to take home. We asked for new year’s resolutions in exchange for a raffle ticket, the winner talking home a ‘Be Better in 2005’ t-shirt, a slogan spreading the reminder that there is always another way, fueling the consumptive and pejorative notion that we are not okay already and in this competitive market we should always be working towards efficiency and reward.
